"We're painting the roses red......we're painting the roses red........" This is some new display props I put together for my Alice in Wonderland section in my booth display. I have a 12 x 20 foot. I will take my camera and take pictures after I set up.
Unfortunately, I didn't think about taking pictures of packing up until I was almost done. This show can be hard because I haven't done anything since November and my things are packed up in a trailor. Memory isn't so good at this point.
So, perhaps the roses will come up white, when they should have been red.....you know what I mean? I unpack my things and there is a little of this and a little of that, and its tough to make "ambience". Although I staged my set up as I worked this year, there was a lot still in the trailor that I don't especially remember was there. The last show was Christmas oriented, so I had to remove trees and things that won't really speak "Spring"....but that leaves a lot of holes in the display......
I purchased new garlands to hang above my display panels to cover some of the wiring ugliness and also, it softens the metal panels. My other garlands were somewhat beat up from use and also, more fall oriented. I found these at Wal Mart yesterday for $2.50 a garland! What a find! I was so lucky to be looking for them yesterday.
I made some fun Wizard of Oz garlands to sell, but forgot to take pictures....so, next post I will show them in the display, and if I have any left will put them in my etsy store.
I managed a whole basket of bunnies and doggies. I am excited to bring them. I dressed a few of the bunnies, but left a few simple.
I made some hearts that can either be pin cushions or just hanging to be sweet. I also have one quilt garland.
Since I lost my framer, I have had to come up with other ways to use my calligraphy where I don't have to purchase frames. I have lots of odd sizes to use up, but my prints will have to start selling unframed for now. I am enjoying the variety, though, and its quite a challenge to keep changing what one is doing. Working at the Christmas shop has given me courage though, because I can see that there is a buyer for everything, eventually.......
I also made some new blocks. These are a little bigger than the last ones, but they are black and beige. I intended on doing some Wizard of Oz quotations on these, but I didn't have the artwork prepared for them, so I just did a few Alice quotations for this weekend. I have lots more blocks to design.
I just wanted to blog before I leave and I think the next post will be just as interesting. I plan on doing a before and after the show post for every show this year. I think that the Team-Wist, and Wist-etsy people will enjoy hearing about the Wisconsin Craft and Art shows, if they check out the blog.
After I come back, I will be listing things for the etsy shop because I have another month before the next show. See you Sunday nite!!!
